Bachelorette Party at the Bay

There's nothing better than a relaxing weekend.  And even better if it gets me out of the hustle and bustle of the city for a few days, too.  That's exactly what my friend's bachelorette party at the bay entailed...fun, food, and fabulous ladies!

The car crew headed out early on a Friday morning to make it to the lovely house on the Chesapeake Bay by mid-afternoon.  We were the first to arrive and spent a few hours just relaxing on the dock.  The view was mesmerizing...simply beautiful in every single way.

Soon, the others began to arrive and we kicked off the festivities with a tasty kabob dinner.  Most of the group was signed up to run a half-marathon (or 10k) the next day so we all stocked up on protein and got plenty of rest.

Kim and I were the only non-runners on Saturday so we served as race support.  In retrospect, I wish I had known about the 10k option because I totally would have run it.  It was also exciting to be a race supporter for a change though.  It is rare that I'm the one on the sidelines so it provided me with a new appreciation for all the people that have cheered me on through the years.  We finally saw the bride-to-be around Mile 11.  And then we were off to brunch...

The banana pancakes were delicious!  And the rest of the day was just spent relaxing and resting.  I didn't want to chance my fair skin in the heat of the day and managed to get in a bit of reading instead.  Before I knew it, we were ready for our shrimp boil dinner...exquisite!

And then it was game time!! My favorite game at a bachelorette party is when the bride-to-be tries to guess the answers to questions that her fiance' has previously answered.  It's always fun to see the responses and how they match or differ.  We also played a fun get-to-know you game.  After some gifts and cupcakes, we headed out to dance the night away at highly acclaimed Mango's.

The next day we spent a few more hours soaking up the serenity of the bay before heading back to the busy nature of life.  The wedding is about a month away now so the countdown is on.  Super excited to celebrate in Chicago!!
