Thanks to SeeItFirst, Chris and I were able to see Saving Mr. Banks this week. Saving Mr. Banks is a the story of how Walt Disney gained the rights to make the movie Mary Poppins.
We really enjoyed this movie. As you all know, I am a HUGE Tom Hanks fan. (You can read more here about my experience meeting him earlier this year!) Hanks was perfect as Walt Disney, but Emma Thompson really stole the show as Ms. Travers. She was wonderful in the role. I had been looking forward to the movie's release because I was very intrigued by the trailer, but I was surprised by how much I really enjoyed it. It uses a flashback method to delve into the childhood of Ms. Travers quite often. I like that style through I agreed with Chris that a handful of the flashbacks might not have been totally crucial to the story. Overall, we both really enjoyed it and would recommend others to see it when it hits theaters in a couple weeks!
