#MarriedMaitlands: Our Save the Date Video

I looked at SO many options for Save the Date postcards and magnets, but nothing ever really stuck out to me.  And then I thought about the expense and whether it was truly worth it.  Do people really keep those things?  And if they do, are you sure you want them to have a posed photo of you and your husband-to-be with your wedding date plastered on it for all of eternity?  These were the questions that kept me up at night.  Well, not really cause I love to sleep.  But I did do some deep thinking as I debated Save the Dates.

We already knew that we wanted to send our invites out with plenty of time to spare before the wedding since nearly everyone would be traveling from out of town to attend so it didn't leave a lot of time for sending out Save the Dates to begin with for us.  And we also had the tricky issue of not having engagement photos planned until much later in our process than typical engaged couples.  So, I started thinking...and searching the internet.  And ultimately, we decided to make a Save the Date video that we distributed mostly to friends as family was pretty much set at this point.

We were fortunate enough to have a friend that practices film editing as a hobby.  He agreed to film it for us.  We just had to come up with an idea.  We brainstormed for several hours before we came up with a great plan.  We loved the finished product.  Check it out...

We had a lot of fun recounting our dating history and jumping all around the city to film the scenes.  It was great to have something wedding related done in NYC since all the other wedding fun was set to take place away from where we currently live.  I will always treasure this video...and was so glad we decided to go this non-traditional route!

  1. I LOVE THIS!!! I've never seen anything like this, and it's amazing to look back at everything you've done together. Our "dateiversary" was just a week before your first date. And seriously, those cupcakes look amazing! What a great way to propose :)
