After our gift exchange and finally being dressed and ready, it was time for the First Looks. I decided I wanted to do a First Look with my dad as well as Christopher.
My bridesmaid, Ashley, helped me get downstairs and in place to go out and see my dad for the first time in all my bridal beauty. I took him the embroidered handkerchief as well as a card. I'd already given Mom hers as we were finishing up the getting ready process.
Dad and I were both pretty emotional. I had also given him a penny to keep in his pocket as a reminder of Mamaw. That really got the waterworks flowing.
Finally, we were able to regain composure and headed back into my hiding spot to wait for Christopher to get into place. We took a few family photos in the computer lab where I waited before FINALLY getting to see my best friend.
I asked my Men of Honor to carry my train as I went to meet my soon-to-be husband. I was a little nervous as I tapped his shoulder, but as soon as he turned around I just felt so happy.
Christopher said he was struggling to hold back tears as he heard me approach him. And he was looking upward to avoid seeing my reflection in the windows. He was so sweet to bring me a single rose at our First Look.
We stood and talked for awhile...mostly about everything that had happened so far that morning. Finally, we decided we better head toward the hotel lobby where our bridal party awaited us.
We all migrated out to the limo that took us over to the park for lots of pre-ceremony photos...
Chris and I went back and forth about whether we wanted to do a First Look, but I am so glad that we did. It was such a relief to finally see him and be able to talk with him prior to our ceremony. It worked out really well for us.
